2 year old Smoking????

I was watching nbc channel 7 news last night, and they spoke about an Indonisean 2 year child smoking cigarretts. He father gave the child his first cigarrett at the age of 18 months. The child was smoking in front of the cameras as if it was nothing and he was an adult and their was no issue with what he is doing. The child smokes about 50 cigarretts a day and the father says he seems healthy and he will not take the cigarretts away from his child.
This is amazing, how parents can really be stupid and expose their children to bad habits. Not only does the media affect people, but so do irresponsible parents. How can you let a 2 year old smoke cigarretts??? That is the question many people are asking themselves…This is ridiculous. Im amazed that the news actually made a report on this. And continues to show it at different times. The only thing that I noticed was that this report didn’t even last 30 seconds, when the media should of put a lot of more importance into this and touch the subject more.
The way the media reported it, was as if it wasn’t a big deal and was cool to see a 2 year old smoke.
Im pretty sure people are disgusted on how low parents can go with their children. The only thing that cigarretts are going to do is damaging the child’s health and the child’s life and exposing him to cancer even more. I can’t believe what I seen today. It was really surprising and sad to see how parents can be careless of their own child. Maybe this will be a wake up calll for everyone to watch what their child is doing.
Parents need to stop being ignorant and pay more attention to their child. Don’t expose them to things that will damage the child’s liffe later on. Who guarantees how long this child will live… It’s common sense for people.

Oil Spilled

I was reading the LA Times and realize that the Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has increased more than what it was before. People and scientist fear that it keeps spreading more than what it is right now. They said that the oil spill is bigger than Jamaica in this moment, which is really frightening. The oil is spilling more than 200, 000 gallons a day affecting the US wildlife and livelihoods that depend on tourism and fishing. This all began over a deadly explosion that occur in the Gulf of Mexico with a boat that spilled over 3 million gallons of oil. Which they are trying to control with connecting it with another tube to filter the oil through another container.
Prices are going higher in seafood since California buys more seafood supplies. They expect for prices to continue to increase since the oil spilling is spreading more and the people who have seafood companies are done for this season.
Its, funny how the media does not really talk about this in the news. I understand that they do not want to scare the people, but this is really important to know since it is affecting everyone especially the wildlife. It is rare to know what i happening with the oil spill in the news since they don’t talk about it much.
I think that this is one of the saddest things in life that has happened since it’s a major thing. How many more sea animals are going to die?? The media needs to communicate more with this information so people can be notify and know what’s coming. Thousands of dollars are being lost, and the news is only paying attention to other minor things that are not as important as the oil spill in this moment. People need to get on this ASAP, its been almost a month and its still not under control. This is ridiculous and disappointing how much disaster it has cause. We need to help one another in this moment!!!

The Problem

The problem that is accuring in this moment is that schwarzenegger is trying to do a proposal that proposes  budget cuts on education, welfare programs, children that are disabled  to “improve the economy”. He is trying to take away the healthcare program away from 142,000 children that are in need in low income  families. He say’s that by doing these budget cuts we will save $83. 7 billion dollars. He wants to cut as many programs possible to help our economy. He doesn’t plan to increase taxes, which I personally would prefer instead of cutting programs.

The question now is how in the world is that going to help? All that is going to do is affect our economy. If people can barely survive now with what they have and people that have been laid off, imagine by june how many more people will lose their jobs and have no help from the government.  He will damage our country more and our state. I had enough with this already. He is not helping in no way.  He is only affecting us.

The democrats as well as many other people disagree with him and think that this is a ridiculous proposal. We are here to help one another not to destroy one another. It took many years to create programs for the poor and now shwarzenegger wants to come and take them away. This doesnt make any sense.  Children are the most important and he can’t come and take away things like this especially their education. This is sad and upsetting, I hope that his proposal is not pass by the legislation. It will really harm everyone. Just start thinking and imagining how many people are going to be homeless, sick, and poor. Instead of decreasing the amount of poor, it’s going to increase.

He needs to really think about what h wants to do. Because what he has propose so far is nothing good coming up but a lot problems and chaos. It is really going to affect millions of people.

Could Hollywood Trick you into getting Pregnant?

I was reading the magazine Seventeen and I seen an article about young teenagers getting pregnant and the media showing soap operas about teenage pregnancies. The true is that the media makes teen pregnancy seem so easy. There are a couple of shows that are air everyday like Gossip Girl, 90210, The Secret Life of An American Teenager, The Pregnancy Pact and 16 and Pregnant. These shows all show young girls pregnant and make it seem so easy as if pregnancy wasnt hard at all. They all have a lot to do with sex. The only two shows that kind of make pregnancy seem hard like in real life is 16 and pregnant and Teen Mom. They show the true colors of pregnancy and how hard it can be to balance your life style. Theirs alot of frustration, fighting, and disagreements. Also, shows them how boyfriends can turn their backs on the girlfriends and leave them.
I dont think its a good idea for shows to be aired about young teenagers getting pregnant and making it seem easy.  There are about 750,000 teenage girls getting pregnant a year. It is true the media does not say how many young teenagers get pregnant a year, how many have abortions, and how many stay as a single mother because the boyfriends dont want to marry them or are ready to be parents. It also makes it seem as if teenagers are not running the risk of getting STDs or HIV. They make it seem as a normal thing to do. So teenagers are thinking is normal to do and get pregnant at a young age.
31% of teenage girls agree that the media portrays pregnancy being easy and many teens see normal to get pregnant and want to have a baby. Instead, of trying to tell teenagers to enjoy life, finish school, and get a career and shows them that getting pregnant is fun and simple like the movie Juno. Most of them drop out of high school because they have to work to support their child, yet many teenagers do not know that because the media portrays it differently. Although sometimes we might have the support of the family it is not easy at all. Mothers struggle to raise a child. While the media makes it seem easy and beautiful with no struggles in life. I guess the media doesn’t see the harm it has caused many teens and families, because they want the ratings to make money. People  fall in the trap and get pregnant at a really young age. Later on they realize it’s the most difficult thing in life and they dont want to be in the situation. But a baby is a lot of responsibility, it needs a lot of attention, love, and supplies like food and clothes.

Maybe society has gotten use to seeing young teenagers pregnant already. But we need to make a change and encourage them to being successful and staying in school. Teach them that having a baby is a lot of responsibilty and its no rush to being a parent. Maybe babysitting would be a good idea for teenagers to see the struggle that parents go through.

Arizona Law

As of this week, a new law in Arizona was passed. The illegal immigration bill was signed by Governor Jan Brewer. The law is about giving the police officers in Arizona the right to stop any suspect who looks illegal and ask them for their papers/documents demonstrating their legal to be in US grounds. Which gives them the power to discriminate any one they desire too. If they are illegal they will be fine with 6 months of jail and deported back to their country.
Millions of people disagree with this. The media has been talking about it, but not as much as they should. This is something really important to the hispanic culture. Its like if were returning back to the 19th century when whites were discriminating blacks and latinos. A march was held today May 1st regarding this bill in Arizona. I as a hispanic believe the Arizona governor is dishonoring immigrants with this. We are all the same and equal. Everyone comes here for better opportunities and a better life. How are we suppose to do this if people are discriminating races.
This is redundant, and I cant understand why this bill was passed. I believe everyone is an immigrant in this country. No one is better than anyone. Immigrants are not the only ones causing crimes in this country, its everyone including Americans. It really bothers me to see how low people can go, and I believe they forgot their roots. I don’t support the new law. Its ridiculous and I hope it gets re-appeal. The president really needs to do something about this. Its sad to see how bad things are getting. Instead of helping one another were taking away opportunities from others.
I thought this country was about freedom, opportunities, and equality. Guess many of us were wrong.

Obama and Boxer

I was reading an article the other day in the LA Times about Barack Obama doing a fundraiser to help Boxer stay as a representative of California. The charge of meeting with the president went from $250-$17,000 which was a big great amount. He went to the Science Center to have a speech next to Boxer and support her by holding a dinner.
I really think this is ridiculous. Because we are not in good economy terms and he is helping somebody so she can stay in the senate. My question is why not do this for California as well since California is about to go broke. He is spending his time doing things that do not come at point right now.
He needs to worry more about how to improve the economy in the U.S. and finding ways to give people jobs instead of having people getting laid off to this point. I think that the media pays so much attention to this since we are talking about the president. So it gives them more to talk about in the news to get more reviews on it. But I believe I’m not the only person (audience) that thinks like this. Theirs many people who do not agree with what he did by holding a fundraiser to help another person in the senate, instead of the people in need.

Nuclear Warheads..

I was reading the LA Times yesterday, about the new Nuclear Treaty that Obama signed with the U.N. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. They have both agreed to decreasing the amount of nuclear weapons to 30%. Russia and the US are the two countries with large number of nuclear weapons.
I found this very interesting, because we do not need so many nuclear warheads to destroy a country. And to know we had a large amount of nuclear weapons it scared me a bit. The media has not talked about it that much in the news as in the newspapers. i believe that they are not announcing constantly to not scared the people and see the US as a weak country.
Also, I believe Obama is focused in things that do not come to todays problems, starting with budget crisis. I understand his is trying to fix war issues, but he needs to focus on his countries needs, instead of signing documents that can actually wait, and help in other ways.
Many people have different point of views of this. But they are not worry about nuclear weapons in this moment, instead in the budget crisis that is occurring in our country.

REPORTERS REPORTER REPORTERS…

I was reading an article for political science class called “The Media”, written by Janda. It talked about how reporters choose to cover in the news all the time about crime scenes because they cost cheaper, are the easiest, and laziest job to do. They make it seem as if crime rates have increase when it hasnt. It has remain the same since the mid-1960′s. But yet people do not see that since their always watching the news and a crime report is covered. They believe that more violence is surrounding their communities.
The media creates fear for the the people who do not manage to see that nothing has changed because they do not take the time to go and research themselves. So it’s easier for people to believe everything the media says. The local news television cover twice as much as any other topic to avoid more work for them.
I believe this is really ridiculous. The news cast/media are wasting people’s time by creating fear in them and acting as if crime rates have increased. Now that I have learned why crimes are covered more, it discourages me to watch the news. In 20 minutes that they are in air, they prefer talking about the same thing instead of teaching the people about what is going around the world and the white house. The media only cares about the money they make by advertising and rates of the show/news. People do not see the reality because they are blinded by what the media creates.

HEALTHCARE!!!!

In this week’s LA TIMES newspaper article it was talking about Obama signing the Healthcare Bill of $1-trillion Tuesday morning. This will be benefiting people who do not have enough income to buy insurance. If they need medical assisstance they will be helped and given insurance, unless you are healthy then insurance will have to be purchase by the person. But also, this article spoke about 12 republican attorney’s who will try to reappeal this bill which is now a law.
It talked about how they disagree with Americans not purchasing their insurance and costing more, instead of letting insurance charging, so they believe the government and the country are loosing money.
I think that this is ridiculous. People do not have much income any more because of the situation people are in. The economy hasn’t better itself. I do not understand why people say the economy is improving, if people are still being laid off from their jobs and have no income and need to support their families. The Healthcare Bill will help many people, especially people in need. This is a great opportunity for everyone, especially students who will be under their parents insurance till 26 years old. That’s a great advantage. I believe Obama did a great job about bringing this new law, but the only bad thing is that it will take 4 years to get in effect. So it will be effective as of 2014.
To me Republicans will never be satisfied with people like Democratics who are trying to help the people in need. Ofcourse they want to benefit themselves as well, but Republicans never really think of others who are in need. And they just need to accept that the Healtcare Bill is now a law and will take in effect in the year 2014

NEW NISSAN

Today, while watching the news for NBC online I seen an advertisement for the new Nissan Altima 2010. In this advertisement they advertise that the new Nissan Altima is the best and would be a great trade in for your old car. They have it as a Hybrid, regular car, a 2.5S and drives very smoothly and fast. They also say its a higher quality than any other car.

What I get from this advertisement is that they are just trying to sell as many cars as possible by making them seem the best. Especially now that the Toyota Car Company is in a bad situation it’s a great advantage for the Nissan Company to advertise and say that they have great deals for people to buy the car. The car looks nice and classy, but that’s what Nissan Company wants people to think in order to buy the car.

One thing I can say is that I have never heard or seen a Nissan car have as many problems as other cars like Toyota. They really do run smoothly, fast and are very classy. I own one, but yet you also have to see how cars are made now in days…
